First Visit Smile Gallery Emergency Prevention Insurance

At Irwin Dental Center, we believe that the most important dental treatment that we can provide for you is regular preventive care. In our efforts to provide you with the best preventive care, our doctors recommend the following regular preventive treatment for our patients:

  • Regular cleaning and exams every six months.
For some patients, we may recommend more frequent visits. We also recommend topical fluoride treatment for our patients every six months.
  • Bitewing X-rays every year.
Bitewing X-rays are taken of posterior (back) teeth. These X-rays help the doctor to identify decay that can be difficult to see in posterior teeth.
  • One Full Mouth Series of X-rays every five years.
The Full Mouth Series allows the doctor to examine all teeth for decay, not just posterior (back) teeth. It is considered the standard of care for radiographic examination for general dentistry.
  • One Panoramic X-ray every five years.
In addition to helping identify common oral disease, the panoramic X-ray is essential in helping to identify less common oral conditions such as infections in the bone, abscesses or cysts, developmental abnormalities and early identification of oral tumors.

We recognize the individuality of our patients. Please feel free to discuss with us any concerns you have regarding these recommendations.

We also know that while many of our patients are covered by dental insurance, there are also many who are not. For those without the benefit of dental insurance coverage, it is our experience that good preventive dental care can help to prevent costly out-of-pocket expenses.

We thank you for the opportunity to serve you and provide for your dental care needs.
